Welcome! I’m Ara, and I’m so glad you’re here.
Clad sometimes in muddy boots, sometimes in a pair of heels, my career as a wedding photographer often requires both sets of footwear as I follow my clients on their romantic adventures all over the world. Catamarans, towering ballrooms, glacial lakes, rooftops, mountains, bed and breakfasts, mossy forests and craggy coastlines all enchant me. My spirit is undaunted, and I am forever inspired by relationships, nature, wind and light.
As an award-winner in both wedding and landscape photography, I use a combination of photojournalism, artistic portraiture, and landscape techniques to tell stories heavy on emotion and atmosphere. My goal is to create a vibrant time machine so you can revisit some the best adventures of your life time and time again.
WHAT COUPLES ARE SAYING
Once we decided we wanted to get married up at Mt St Helens – I knew we would need to find the right photographer. From the very first phone call with Aralani, I knew that she was going to be amazing! She was so excited about our idea and we connected on the love for the outdoors. She was a pleasure to work with leading up to the big day and was insanely flexible as we waited to hear about all the constant regulations changing. Planning a wedding in 2020 was super scary, but we are so grateful that we had amazing vendors that helped us with the process. On our wedding day up at Mt St Helens it ended up being stormy and insanely windy. Ara was amazing at helping us work “with the wind”. The entire time I was so worried our pictures were ruined because of the weather, but once we got our sneak peek I was able to see how beautiful they really were! She captured the beauty in the chaos of the weather and laughed with us the entire day. We look forward to future photo sessions with her!
Ara was everything; I mean everything for our wedding day. We don’t have the professional pictures yet, but I don’t need them just yet to give her a 5 star review (will update when I get them). But I wanted to praise her now as our wedding was less than a week ago! During her calls prior to our wedding she really grasped on exactly what we were looking for and on the day of the wedding she made them happen. She was very organized with getting things together; It didn’t matter what time of the day it was or what everyone was doing, if she saw something we were looking for she stopped everything and captured that moment. She’s brilliant. So happy we chose her. Also, she is EASILY loved by all of our family! Can’t thank you enough for making our day what it was!

Ara not only has an extremely creative eye, but is a positive, flexible ray of sunshine! Our daughter’s wedding was on the weekend of the fires and evacuation notices in September, so the day really could not have been more stressful! But you would never know it! The photos reveal a day that was a reflection of heaven!

My Story
Wallflower as your event is unfolding, loud enough when people need wrangling for portraits, knowledgeable when a gown needs bustling or a boutonniere needs pinning, helpful when toes need pointing and knees need bending and smiles need refreshing, I’m fiercely invested in your memories and experience. I choose my clients as carefully as they choose me.
Photographing weddings constantly reminds me that love is alive, strong, deep, unexpected, and worth fighting for. My couples are very dear to me, and I often follow them on more adventures through their lives. 2020 marks twelve years for me as a wedding photographer, and my husband and I still have sushi dates with my very first wedding couple from 2008.
I live in Portland with my husband, Nathan, who makes me really happy every day. I love hiking, rock climbing, reading, dinner parties, drinking citrusy IPAs, puttering around the garden, playing at the arcade, planning our next big trip, and our dog, Ukee. I’m a shameless waterfallaholic. I like Star Wars a little too much.
