WHAT COUPLES ARE SAYING
Nikki is great! One of the best decisions we made to “splurge” on our wedding was getting our first dance choreographed. Not only did it mean we had a nice dance prepared but practicing gave us a fun and meaningful activity to do together during the otherwise stressful time of wedding planning. Nikki put a lot of effort into making our dance look really nice while keeping it manageable for two people who had never really danced before. She was also always open to any ideas we had and helped us incorporate those. It was such a fun experience (my husband ended up actually enjoying it even more than me despite the “eye roll” I got when I first mentioned wanting to go to dance practices LOL) and I highly recommend Nikki! We did both the virtual lessons and in-person lessons so I can attest that you can learn either way. We are both so thankful and happy with our decision: 5 Stars!”
The second we walked up to the stage for our first dance we looked at each other and we knew it was “ON”. Everything just fell into place and it felt like she & I were literally one. There’s no doubt in my mind that Nikki loves what she does and does what she loves. She is not only dedicated to helping people achieve their breakout dance goals, she is vested in you to make sure your dance embodies YOU and your partner! Words cannot express how grateful my wife and I are that we were put in contact with Nikki to help us with our breakout dance. If you’re looking for the best breakout dance instructor this side of the Mississippi and possibly all of the United States, look no further as Nikki is the real deal Holyfield.

I’ve been told time and time again that dance lessons were the favorite part of my clients’ wedding planning. Planning a wedding can be stressful. Take time to connect with your partner and enjoy each other through your first dance sessions.

OUR STORY
Hi, I’m Nikki!
I grew up in the small coastal town of Newport, Oregon, started dancing at the age of 4 and never stopped. My training originated in ballet, but grew to encompass many other genres as I got older, including (but not limited to) hip hop, break dancing, cheer, jazz, tumbling, hula, and Tahitian. I’ve always been passionate about dance, but considered it a hobby until 2008 when I was given the opportunity to teach at The Dance Factory in Eugene, OR. I was originally hesitant to take on the classes, as I already had a full time job, but was told it would just be a temporary fill to help out the dance studio owner while they searched for a permanent instructor. 5 years later, I was still teaching there…
In 2013 I decided to move to Portland and pursue dance as a career. I started teaching at Studio One Dance Academy and after a year or so I started getting all these wedding dance and flash mob opportunities sent my way. The more of them I did, the more I realized how much I enjoyed them and connecting with couples leading up to their big day. Dance is filled with emotion and bringing that expression into a wedding environment, on potentially the most important day of ones life? Or helping someone surprise the one they love? Well, the feeling of watching that unfurl is indescribable. I fell in love with watching LOVE through movement and decided I wanted to do more and more of it. So I threw my hat in the ring and started my own business, PDX Flash Mob in 2016.
As PDX Flash Mob evolved and expanded over the years I started to gravitate more and more towards wedding dances, in particular first dances with the bride & groom. While I love a good party, I really thrive most on deep connections one on one and found this was true not only in my private life, but also with my clients. Thus, PNW Wedding Dance was born. I still love doing flash mobs but wanted this business to be focused solely on everything wedding – father/daughter dances, bridesmaid dances, and reception line dance lessons just to name a few!
When I’m not teaching and dancing you can usually find me hanging out with my sweet family and rescue pups on our 5 acre farm just outside of Portland. I feel happiest when I’m immersed in nature – whether that be hiking, camping, gardening or floating the river. I’m also a big time foodie, always scoping out the newest place to grub. I’m an avid international traveler who’s easily swayed to go explore a new land. I love adventure and feel lucky to live in such a beautiful state.
I consider it the deepest honor to be chosen by couples to be a part of their wedding. I pour my heart and soul into each creation and deeply value the connections and friendships I’ve made through this business. No project or idea is too big or too small, and I thrive on original, unique concepts. Let’s play. I’m ready to make your wedding dance dreams come true!
